List Building Tips: Ad Swap Magic = Free Advertising

Advertising makes new list builders cringe because it means they have to spend money. What if I told you there was a free list building advertising meathod that focuses on your niche.

This list building formula can be summed up in two words: Ad Swap.

Getting your message in front of as many eyeballs as possible is necessary for continued growth. Ad-Swapping works if you have a list and your goal is increasing the number of subscribers. This is just one of the many different methods to get traffic to your landing pages so you can build yourself a bigger list. It’s like building a table with many legs. The more legs the surer the foundation and when you loose one leg you have others working for you.

Basically, you trade advertisements with eZine publishers or other people in your niche that have an emil list. The lists need to be of comparable size or else you won’t get any partners. You broadcast the eZine publisher’s advertisement to your mailing list while the eZine publisher sends your ad to his list. Yes, you are actually cross endorsing or cross promoting each others offer to each of your mailing list.

Follow the proven blueprint of giving away a product in your ad.

The tried and true meathod of giving something of value to make money with a website holds true when you advertise in ezines but don’t get stuck on it. Start with an ad tha’ts proven itself to work with the same targeted audience.

You can apply this technique with as many eZine publishers or internet marketer’s list as you can find and build a large email list. Just because you have a list that doesn’t mean sending out one email will get you rich. The secret is in the relationship you have with your list.

Reach out to others like you and both will benefit.

SEO IS EASY

Easy in theory but a lot of work goes into it. Content, keywords, back links. That’s all there is to it. To put it another another way it’s on-page and off-page SEO. Publishing a lot of content has it’s challenges, getting your initial set of keywords via research is time consuming and getting back inks is an ongoing process.

Once you gotten over the initial hurdles look at how the rest just falls into place by leveraging all that work and it’s all free.

On-Page SEO: Content and Keywords

You need to have lots of continent with keywords. By that I mean you primary keywords. Long tail phrases are more organic than planned and rarely do people find the blog/site with an exact match. It is worth it to have a set a long tail key phrases to rank number 1 in on Google. A lot of the time it’s usually a combination of words that are not planned but appear in the article title and body

You need those keywords at the “code” level (Title, Description and Keyword META tags). Using METAs for you SEO is no where near as powerful as it used to be but why publish a page or post and leave them out? They help. I’ve been “found” by a combination of keywords in the title and METAs many times. How do you do that with a blog? Use Wordpress and get this plugin http://wp.uberdose.com/2007/03/24/all-in-one-seo-pack/

Off Page SEO: Getting Backlinks

You need back links to your site/blog off of your keywords. This is a lot easier than you think with Web2.0. First your blog post ought to be written with basic SEO in mind. Lets say you’ve got 50 posts on your blog and your comfortable with 20 being good enough to bookmark. You could probably do more but heck, it’s your NAME you putting out there and you want the stuff to be good. By the way, it’s OK to use a pen name.

  • Get someone to do it slowly over time (a couple a week) and you have 20 back links multiplied by the number of major bookmark sites you use.
  • Get about 20 back links per post at 2nd tier bookmarking sites by using www.onlywire.com.
  • Using Wordpress.com gets you linked via technorati.com when you use categories.
  • Comment on blogs in your niche and link to your site off a keyword. Do this a few times a week and it ads up over time.
  • Link to a blog post and you’ll get a track-back link on their blog to yours.
  • Of those 20 posts, pick the best (5-10) and article market them on 10 directories. Thats 50-100 back links. If someone uses them…more back links.

That ought to get you A couple hundred back links, or more, in less than 6 months putting you on the road to a profitable website depending on how diligent you are.

I’ll stop here but you can see how the “problem” of getting backlinks is ridiculous. Ok, I’ll admit that high page ranked one-way links get you the most bang for you buck–you will need bucks to get them tho’…all these other methods get you backlinks AND traffic for FREE

Get more traffic to your blog

I’m on a lot of lists…to many. A couple of days ago I got one promoting a FREE blog traffic increasing service called BlogRush.

I should have posted this this a couple of days ago but i was busy writing content for the site. This blogrush thing really looks promising. It’s hard to pin down so check out the video.

Theres this networking viral web2.0 thing going on and it’s got my attention. It’s better to get in on this kind of thing early because as this thing spreads, the early adopter are going to get the referrals and the traffic.

In the past couple of days this thing has really taken off. All the “big” IM out there are promoting it. As I said, I’m on most of their list and when I get 5 mails promoting the same product I take a look. With so many of the top ten IM’ers promoting this thing it’s definitely worth a look.

It’s free so theres nothing to loose.

Headline Your Way to a Profitable Website

“The money is in the list” is the mantra of a lot of internet marketers. Before the list there’s traffic and to catch the traffic you need to get their attention. Enter the headline.

There I was checking out my InstantBuzz stats and pleasantly surprised how many time my ad was seen only to be dismayed when I saw NO ONE clicked. The problem got worse as I started doing promotional mails with ListJoe and ListMachine and realized my emails were drab and dull.
