Squeeze Page Basics for a Profitable Website

Squeeze pages come in so many varieties that making your own the first time seems daunting. It’s an important part of any internet marketing site, and the purpose is simple: get the visitor’s email and name to build your list and communicate with them. They can have audio, video, plain text or any combination thereof. No matter what the squeeze looks like they all accomplish the task of getting the email and name of a visitor in the same way.

There’s a process involved that takes the visitor on a ride from the time they first see the page to the moment they hit “submit!” You accomplish this by grabbing their attention with a compelling headline, offering something of real value, pointing out the extreme benefits of the free gift, and most importantly, telling them to get it!. I’ll quickly go over this simple three step process for your own profitable website.

The first thing a visitor sees when they get to the squeeze page is the headline. It starts the “story” and it must be compelling enough to grab their attention or else they leave.. You could have the greatest product on the planet but if you can’t get someone to look at it and more importantly, listen to your story, you’ll never make a dime.

Now that you have their attention, we give them something useful and valuable. A small bit of compelling copy introducing the “free” product is all you need. People want know benefits, not features or in depth details, we save that for the sales letter. Remember, the squeeze page is all about the sizzle, not the steak. As long as you give them something useful and valuable you can crank that sizzle way up and they won’t be disappointed when they get the freebee.

They’re still in the story, so now you hit them with a list of benefits (sizzle). Use bullet points, graphic checks, audio, animated checks, or whatever is right for your squeeze page design. You only need 3 or 4 MAXIMUM. While you have their attention you need to act fast and communicate the benefits. Ideally, all this should happen “above the fold” so they don’t have to reach for the mouse and scroll down. Sometimes it can be done, sometimes not. If your copy is good they’ll want to look further.

Adding audio or video is a great way to add sizzle and keep the visitors attention. All internet marketers I’ve talked to like audio and video on the squeeze because it increases opt-ins substantially putting you on the road to a profitable website.

You really need to close the story by reiterating the best benefits for your free item. Keep it short and powerful. The final step in the process is the call to action. We’re near the end of the story so we tell them what to do next: ”Get it NOW!”
